⚠️🚨 DeepDAO.io Special Announcement on Ethics and Culture🚨⚠️
As the hype about DAOs is growing we intend to introduce standards into our listing practices * Remember the Trustless Systems Mantra: DYOR - Do your own research
As the crypto industry has entered a bull market and hype is rising, it’s natural to want to be a part of the excitement. As the DAO ecosystem keeps growing and while massive sums of capital are flowing into DAOs, we feel an obligation to share a note regarding our ethics and culture.
We have faith that most DAOists participate in this space to be a part of a new technology that enables communities to function collectively and transparently, allowing for self-management and thereby making society better through alternative and more inclusive governance systems. This includes the recent interest in DAOs focused specifically around decentralized finance. While we were putting this note together the YAMS DeFi debacle was born, rose, and flared out spectacularly, making our message all the more timely:
DeepDAO is preparing for an upgrade where we go more broadly by expanding the number of DAOs we cover and more deeply by providing additional information and metrics about those DAOs. Our goal is to provide a way for you to see an aggregation of what each DAO is; their nature, mission, culture, history, behavior and current status based on publicly available information from the blockchain and their own documentation.
A Window Into the Blockchain
As we research and develop knowledge of various systems, we see a lot of ambiguous behavior where the ultimate outcomes can’t be independently validated. It is core to our purpose to support the ecosystem as a whole, with accurate and truthful data as part of the overall DAO technology mission to realize a robust decentralized future, and we take our role in procuring and presenting this data very seriously. As aggregators we can’t vouch for the intentions of any given system, we can only present the data that can be seen. We are in many ways a window into the blockchain.
As DAOists we tend to be inclusive and we encourage all DAOs and communities to organize and make themselves valuable to themselves and others. We don't know about any specific unethical behaviors in any particular DAO, or we would remove it or decline to list it in the first place. But we do feel the hype about DAOs growing and we need to create an order in potential chaos. We will keep exercising vigilance and are introducing precautionary measures into our listing practices to make sure DeepDAO.io data remains a trusted source and is not abused by bad actors.
Considering the velocity of these markets, please do not rush to invest in a DAO or a token just because it’s listed on DeepDAO.io or any other data provider. Remember the Trustless Systems Mantra: DYOR - Do your own research. Look at the DAO governance data, its proposals history and members’ power distribution. Price, and financial trends aren’t everything.
Let’s make sure we build an ecosystem which celebrates high integrity and weeds out those projects that do not have the best intentions of the DAO community in mind.
Onward and upward!
